Riad SOUAFINE is a charming riad situated in the medina of Fez specifically located in the palace quarter on the hill of ZIAT. Nestled near the historic center, its prime location offers an unforgettable, panoramic view of the ancient media of Fes.
Bernard, the on-site owner, and Hassan, his colleague, are excited to welcome you to a wonderful experience of hospitality as they hope their riad can be a "home away from home" for you. At the riad's center is an Arab- Andalusian patio complete with Orange and Lemon trees growing around an exceptional 17th century fountain made of Carrara marble. Surrounding this patio's exterior are four lounges which offer beautiful spaces for relaxation and privacy for all guests.
This spacious riad (over 1000 m2) offers six large suites ranging from 38 to 50 m2. Loaded with all the modern conveniences, this sober and spacious riad has been renovated in traditional décor by local artisans. Relax on the large terraces overlooking the ancient media while you enjoy the pleasure of the solarium, lounges, and the open gazebo.
The dinners severed by request of our guests are, in-and-of-themselves, a voyage through the culinary specialties of Fes.
Accueil chaleureux, conseils judicieux, merci Bernard!

Riad SOUAFINE was built in the Patrician Era during the 19th century by Cadi Moulay Ahmed Alaoui - the son-in-law of Sultan Hassan 1st. At that time in Fez, Ziat hill was known as the residence of the chieftains.
Cadi, a religious judge, purposely blended harmony and symmetry to create a spacious and luminous home. Riad SOUAFINE was then sold to Cadi Boukili who, after some time, sold it to Cadi Abdelaziz Skalli. He performed some minor changes on the riad before The Benkirane family acquired the property.
Bernard, the current owner, and his colleague Hassan desired to preserve the serenity of Riad SOUAFINE. Their careful renovation efforts blended tradition and comfort with space and privacy to offer you tranquility in the midst of a traditional and authentic atmosphere.
Lovers of art deco furniture, Bernard has a unique eye and a special interest in antique furniture and other relics of Moroccan history dating from the years 1930/1940. Hassan, an alumnus of Fine Arts and stylist training, has put his special touch on the decoration of the rooms and suites. His decorative additions add a contemporary touch to the riads reflection of the Fes Artisan's traditional elegance.
