Overview

Dar Attajmil is a traditional dar restored in 2001, which has maintained its intimate atmosphere and the peace of a family home. The traditional architecture, the skill of the artisans of Morocco, the brilliant green of banana trees that adorn large patio combined with the minimalist styling and modern comforts of the house, are sure to bring delight to the guests of the house.

Four double rooms, each with bathroom, all decorated differently, library, terrace ... and other daily pleasures: the traditional hammam and massage essential oils, candlelight dinners prepared with care and a nod to Italian cuisine, evenings of music ...

But that's not all... A great asset of Dar Attajmil is also the situation in the heart of the prestigious Ksour district, within walking distance of Jemaa El Fna and souks.

I really enjoyed my 4 nights here. It is smaller than some of the other guest houses in which I stayed, which made for a quieter and more intimate experience. The location is excellent....just a 5 minute walk to to the main square and a short walk to a road with taxis. As I was recovering from some stomach troubles, I ate dinner there every night....the menu was tailored to my needs, varied and delicious. I particularly enjoyed the small lounge room with beautiful jazz music and a great collection of books on Morocco. I also found it good value for money.

Like all the other reviews we found Dar Attajmil a great hotel, with staff who made every effort to make our stay relaxed and stress free. We took cooking lessons at the Maison Arabe, very professional, but if we ever go back to Marrakech we will take a lesson at Dar Attajmil, which has a class but not too widely advertised. If my computer works you will see a gouache painting I did from the rooftop. this is where our breakfast was served; my painting doesn't include the profusion of flowers or the comfortable seating.

We stayed at the Dar Attajmil for one night and enjoyed our stay.

Location: This riad is not directly accessible by car, but it's quite near the main road. Our driver did have to ask people and we paid a small tip for them to help with our luggages. I think it's located at a better area of the old medina. I stayed at a different riad located at a different area a few days ago, and it felt chaotic over there. However, the surrounding of Dar Attajmil was not chaotic and we walked around a little bit in the morning and evening and visited some of the small shops around.

Food: We had dinner at the roof top. It was one of the most romantic dinner settings I ever experienced! The food was good, large quantity, and the appetizer (steam califlower) was tasty & healthy!

We stayed 4 days in this fab riad and I would strongly reccomend it to anyone. The owner, Lucrezia, who speaks fluent English, Italian and French, is a wonderful, knowlegeable host; the rooms were clean and tastefully furnished; the staff was ever so nice and polite: they broght us free mint tea and homemade biscuits everytime we came back tired from sightseeing and never spares a smile. The breakfast was very good and the homecooked meals scrumptious. Bring earplugs with you though as Marrakesh is very noisy! Maria & Raff

This is a beautiful small riad, calm and very inviting. The rooms are small but very adequate. The environment is calm, quiet and lovely escape from the vibrancy of the town.

The only downside was the lack of information given to us. We were not advised where the riad was in relation to the main square, nor were we given any information about the area, the courses I've read about, infact no information at all!! Also the fact that no one has a key so staff and guests have to ring the door bell to enter- not too bad though as there are only 4 rooms.

That said it is a fantastic location, and wonderful place, and I will definitely return here.
